Redemption in Nissan - Women plant in Netzer

Dozens of women from Gush Etzion, Efrat, Kiryat Arba Hevron and Jerusalem found time, despite preparations for the Sabbath and for Passover, to work this week to redeem the land of Israel.

The women planted dozens of trees in Netzer - between Elazar and Alon Shvut in the Gush Etzion bloc - in response to an attack last week in which six Arabs attacked two Jews who were planting in the area. Local Arabs have made several attempts to undermine planting at the Jewish-owned site.

The plantings also came in reaction to the uprooting of 3,300 five year old trees in Sussiya yesterday by the Civil Administration

For the past few years, Women in Green and the Netzer Garin have worked to plant trees on Jewish land in Judea and Samaria in order to prevent Palestinian Authority Arabs from taking control of the land. PA Arabs have built tens of thousands of homes on state land in recent years, in an apparent attempt to create “facts on the ground” and claim the land for the PA.

Women in Green and the Netzer Garin have asked the public to show a Jewish presence in Netzer, especially on the Sabbath and holidays. The organizations are also planning an Independence Day event at the site.
